Fiorentina midfielder Antonin Barak met with the media this afternoon ahead of his team’s Conference League showdown against Sivasspor.

La Viola host the Turkish side tomorrow evening in Tuscany for the first leg of their European tie. The 28 year-old was asked about his team’s chances of potentially making it all the way to the final—which will be held in his native Czech Republic in Prague.

“I’m not thinking about the final in Prague,” explained Barak.

“First we need to worry about Sivasspor and stay concentrated on the game ahead of us. We’ve been training well so I hope we can put in a good performance. We’ll have to be careful and not lose focus.”

“They’re a difficult opponent but I’m convinced we’ll play tomorrow with respect for the opponent but with a huge desire to win.”

Finally, the midfielder elaborated on La Viola’s decision last month to prematurely exercise the option to make his loan deal from Hellas Verona permanent.

“I’m happy with how I’ve worked since joining the club so obviously the club’s decision pleased me,” he admitted.

“I’m getting on well here and my family feels settled. I wasn’t thinking too much about whether or not they’d make the move permanent but the fact they did so certainly made me feel freer from a psychological perspective.”
